Well, at least I am feeling better and have Made A Start on the card for the new baby ... so am crafting but with partial success as the new card ordered didn't arrive this morning as I had hoped so am having to rummage around and "make do" ... and I am not a "make do" type of girl!!!
Hang on though ... if I am making this card from bits'n'bobs left from other cards it might just qualify me for Pixie's Snippet Challenge!
Mmmmmm, now there's a thought!

The best laid plans ...
Typical, I suppose that just as I was getting back into the swing of things here in blogland I go down with a streaming headcold and not at all able to blog nor craft for two days.
Was asked to make a new baby card and, of course, readily said I would even though I was mindful of everything I already have to do and out came the Wishblade/Silhouette, new supplies ordered and whoosh ... down I go with a cold. My eyes watered all day long ... huge splooshy tears that dripped onto the table and it looked like I had been crying non-stop.
Am hopeful I can get back to cutting and sticking tomorrow ... got too much to do to be under the weather.

WOYWW 188
Well, it has sure been a while but here I am!!!!! WOYWW'ing for the first time in ages and having totally forgotten how to do it! I shall post my photo of my very messy desk right now and then head off to see if I can figure out how to add it to Julia's list!
Don't know what WOYWW'ing is all about? Well, each Wednesday, in the world of craftland, we share photo's of our desk and have the opportunity of visiting desks all over the world to see what fellow crafters are up to ... it is just fascinating seeing lots of items and products that we all use scattered far and wide and all being used to produce such different results.
Taking a peek at other crafter's desks has kick-started many crafter's-block moments and, of course, it's great just to be nosey!
So here is my work desk right now ... not much going on and not really happy with the card I am making so have yet to decide whether to go with it or bin it and start over!
This isn't yet my "normal" craft desk ... mild here in England but still too cold to work out in the conservatory where my huge table and storage cupboards are so am squeezed onto the end of the dining room table!
These are some of the cards I made just before Christmas for my January birthdays ... used the resist technique for the pink tag cards and had to experiment to see if I liked a cream background showing through or a white one ... decided I preferred the white so will be making more like these for further birthdays throughout the year. Had loads of little strips of vellum left over from making some invitations so am using them up by adding the person's name ... super and quick to emboss and saves throwing away such lovely thick vellum.
It is not often my sister has anything nice to say about my cards but she did comment on the one I made last year for daddy ... I used a beautiful brass stencil that I have had for years ... so I dug that out and the men's cards this year will be based around that.
I used glossy accents to highlight just the little hot-air balloon and left it at that ... well, after I'd distress-inked it to within an inch of its life, of course!
I used a linen-effect paper for the embossing and after I inked it with my much favoured brown tones of Tim Holtz's distress inkpads it resembled burnt wood and you can just about spot I used my new Martha Stewart punches I got for Christmas.
Right, am off to see if I can link this at Julia's Stamping Ground and then will pop back here to post the link to her WOYWW list!
So, Julia's Stamping Ground is where it all happens! (just hope that link takes you there ... SORRY Julia if it doesn't ... I will ask Maggie C to help me out!)
Happy WOYWW'ing everyone ... I've really missed being part of our Wonderful Wednesdays!!!!!

Time to catch up
Have said it before and have to say it again ... can't believe how long it has been since I visited my dear little blog ... time just passes way too fast and the hustle and bustle of Christmas didn't help.
I was MEGA stressed about getting everything done for Christmas ... I was behind with my cards and crafting and sewing the tree decorations that I traditionally make. It took me an hour and a half to wrap one present and I was never as late as I was this year in getting the wrapping done ... then the shooting in Connecticut happened and it put it all in perspective for me. So what if someone got a present in a carrier bag rather than wrapped ... what did it matter if I had to buy a box of cards rather than make one for everyone on my list. As a family we saw lots of each other over the holiday and that really was all that mattered.
Of course, I did get it all done but the stress and panic lifted and I ploughed through all I wanted to do with quiet reflection of those in Sandy Hook.
I kept my cards simple this year ... and FLAT! Last year every card required a "large" stamp and with the increased postage charges I simply had to make flat cards this year. I knew I wanted them black and white after coming across a beautiful stamp and I knew I wanted them "postcard" style so this is what I ended up doing :
I stamped a simple "Happy Christmas" in black on the back with just two little *s*n*o*w*f*l*a*k*e*s* rather than mat and layer them ... saving time and keeping them as flat as I could!
Of course, comments from a certain someone were about par for the course with "I prefer the back" ... but I've come to expect stuff like that now.
All the "special" cards followed the same theme but I tried to use *s*n*o*w*y* photo's of the recipients ... did a whole lot of, er, "borrowing" photo's from their Facebook pages!
This was one made for one of my nephews and shows his girlfriend taken a couple of years ago ... as soon as I saw the photo' ages ago I knew I wanted to make their card using it:
I always theme all my wrapping of presents and this year, again, kept with the *s*n*o*w*f*l*a*k*e* theme :
These were just for the ladies ... the men's paper was dark blue with silver *s*n*o*w*f*l*a*k*e*s ... and they just got baubles and no bow!
Despite all the raised eyebrows last year I finished off the intended December birthdays (again for two of the nephews) with cards using the little fob/pocket watches I got:
Managed to get this finished and framed in time to post to Australia - and it got there in record time too! My Australian niece married a Canadian so I thought I'd send him a little reminder of home ... he got the maple leaf decoration above too!
So that pretty much brings my blog up to date and I am making a promise myself to get back into WOYWW'ing each week and to keeping a record of my crafting throughout 2013.
I am already itching to make a start on all the cards for this year ... made those for January just before Christmas but forgot to take pictures but will be doing some more along the same lines and WILL post them here ... eventually!

Hello blogland ... have really missed you!
Further confusion!!!
OK ... at least I tried! Did I say I don't do cables? Seems I've not transferred photo's to this laptop before so I could get no further than plugging said cable into mobile and getting an error message. Even call to hubby at work didn't help. Will just have to wait until he gets home tonight to try again ... bloomin' technology ... give me a sheet of paper and some double sided tape any day please!
Quiet confusion
Well, I have no idea what has happened to my blog but it sure doesn't look how I remember leaving it! That will teach me to stay away so long and not update as regularly as I would really like to!
I've just found the cable-thingy (I don't do cables) in order to get some photo's from my mobile and onto here but it took me so long to even find my blog I've exhausted myself. Searched high and low for the thing (the cable as well as my blog) only to find it left plugged into the USB hub-thingy (I don't do hub-thingies either) ... might have a cuppa and see if I can remember how to download/upload/offload the photographs!
Watch this space and I might just be back.
Or not.
Oh and a very VERY happy new year to one and all and wishing you lots of time to craft and create!

Back with a vengance!
IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!
I'm back and no matter how silly my little lot find the concept I am jolly well going to keep right on blogging!!!!
Now, the trouble with this time of year, of course, is not having enough hands, nor hours in the day, to do as much as I need to get done. Am already in full panic mode and if I am card-making then I am stressin' that I should be cross-stitching the little tree decorations I traditionally make and give as little gifts ... and vice-versa, of course.
I even considered "letting-go" the tree decorations this year but :
a) would then have to think of alternative little gifts to buy and
b) there would be a gap in the dates ... I sew an embroidered (not by me!) label on the back of each decoration and can't bare the thought of 2012 being missing
SO ... am constantly juggling sewing/crafting/sewing/crafting ... oh, and I do quizzes by the shedload so have to make time for them too!
Each January I have always started my birthday/anniversary etc., cards for the whole year and just plough through my list until they are all done ... leaving the rest of the year for all the unexpected cards that crop up or to tackle anything I am asked to make. This year I decided to do it differently and work my way through the year a month ahead ... BIG MISTAKE!!!! I have spent this entire weekend in a mad panic (I seem to always be in a panic of some sort or another) as I still had a few cards for the beginning of November to make and several for December. And I haven't even started my Christmas cards yet BUT am now down to just four cards for this year left so a good weekend's work really. On two of those remaining cards I had planned to use the little fob/pocket watches but as they haven't really gone down too well I am now in quite a dilemma as to what to do ... go ahead and use them because I really want to, or admit defeat and do something different. Watch this space and I will let you know when I know myself!
Tomorrow will be spent making some sample 21st invitations that I have been asked to make so I need to find time to make 100+ invitations too.
At least it keeps me quiet and out of mischief.
And next time I might just tell you about "invitationgate" ... but that's another story!

Been a while
Okaaay ... I knew it had been a while since I visited my dear little blog but didn't quite realise HOW long!
Confidence taken a huge bashing so whilst I have been crafting away continually since my last post I've not felt able to share anything as comments about my work have left me wondering if it is worth me bothering to carry on crafting.
Then I decided I bloomin' well love crafting whatever the results ... the smell of the ink and papers, peeling off the backing to the double sided tape, firing up the Vagabond, cutting and trimming and matting and layering and ... well, you get my drift!
Then I reminded myself why I started my blog in the first place ... for ME! Doesn't matter if family & friends don't "get" what I do ... I will make and give them their card and they can throw it out but I'm going to carry on and keep calm and all that and harden myself to all the negative comments. Don't get me wrong ... I don't expect everyone to like what I do and I am very happy to receive constructive criticism but comments like "what a daft idea" don't inspire me to carry on much at all.
I am posting a few photo's of the few cards I bothered to photograph and am including them here so I can drag my blog up to date :
This is an example of the card that caused the most controversy! I made several ... some in my favourite browny colours and then some in pink for the girls! I had a few "Big O" birthdays this year and thought celebrating the passing of time with little fob/pocket watches might be an idea.
Well, it was an idea but didn't seem to go down too well (hence the "what a daft idea" comment mentioned above).
To be fair the recipients seemed to like them - although one did go, "Oh!" and gave a puzzled expression upon opening the card!
I'd inked and stamped and embossed acetate and alcholol inked and worked long and hard on these cards but guess you can't win them all, eh?
This one went down quite well! Made two the same ... one being for my nephew's girlfriend ... I like doing number cards like these for special birthdays even if they are a bit naff.
This was a new home card for nephew number 2 and his girlfriend ... doesn't show on the photo but I glossy accented the word "HOME" and there is a little key hanging from the ribbon. The message was printed onto acetate.
All my birthday cards this year followed a theme ... butterflies for the girls and cogs for the boys ... have posted cards made earlier this year already but am including this one because the recipient of one exactly the same as this rang me last night to thank me for "her wonderful card" and to ask how I had done the "calendar" as a card-making friend of hers wanted to know.

This was made for a 70th birthday and I did one the same for a 40th too.
My sister's birthday card. She sat beside me when I gave it to her. She opened the envelope. Took out card. Read it. Put card back in envelope. And didn't say a word. Guess she didn't like it! The inside was pretty too!
I am about to start my Christmas cards and have a sort of idea where I am going with them (probably to M&S to buy them and save all the Shock! Horror! Debbie, what were you thinking!!! ) They do 3 for 2 offers, right?

Am now quite determined to keep my blog up to date and am going to spend time catching up with all of your blogs so bear with me!
My name is Debbie and I am a crafter ... no matter what!!!!!!!

WOYWW 155
Well, I'm here!
Mojo crept back a little bit yesterday but proved something to me ... not so much a loss of mojo but a loss of confidence after some very negative comments recently from sister-dearest about some stuff I made. The people who asked me to make the cards were over-the-moon with them but it tends to be just the negativity that I hear.
Still, dug deep and got my stuff out yesterday and nephew Eddie's card is a work in progress ... almost finished but knowing what the reaction from some people will be I am having to push myself to finish it.
Pity really because the moment I got out those inks and got a whiff of the grungeboard and started messing around I was lost in the process and realised how much I have missed crafting.
Other nephew's girlfriend is due soon to do more crafting so no time to blog today but will pop around as many blogs as I can tomorrow when I have a quiet day again.
So my workdesk is very boring as I was working only on the one card but here it is for all you WOYWW'ers out there!

Time ... it sure does fly!
Can't quite believe how long it has been since I blogged! Came as quite a shock!
Have hit a bit of a low patch and managed only to do enough card-making to keep up with this year's birthdays and anniversaries and then had a few cards to make as commissions ... except I can't really call them that because I still don't feel able to charge for whatever I make for someone else.
Now I have all the June birthdays looming which include two of the nephews and I have plans to make them very OTT but hopefully I can lose myself in making them and the mojo will return.
Hopefully.

Fizzled Mojo
Well, since getting home after the Easter holidays and our wonderful nine days away in the caravan my mojo has certainly fizzled and I am now getting stressed that my cards for May won't be made in time.
I'm sorry I have not paid return visits to all you lovely people who commented on my sewing ... after MUCH deliberating I went with the lighter coloured fabric and despite a few initial reservations am now glad I did.
I managed to sew every day whilst away so got a fair bit done ... really ought to post a photo but can't quite be bothered at the moment ... like I said, mojo certainly taken a dip for just about everything this week.
I HAVE been round all your blogs and seen what you are up to and have loved seeing your work even though I've not left any comments.
Just need to bounce back a bit and then I can return to blogland with mojo fully in place just raring to go!

Sending thanks
Now I know she has received it I can share this tag I made for Maggie C ... without her I would not have my little blog and am finally, slowly, kinda getting to grips with my Wishblade (which is now a Sillhouette due to some unloading/downloading/offloading/uploading or whatever it is!).
Unfortunately I made this BEFORE finding out Maggie is not a fan of the Tim Holtz grungy style but I put so much work into it I decided to send it anyway (with an apology) rather than make something more to her taste.
If you look closely you can see my brads-bashed-with-the-meat-hammer ... was pleased how they turned out and it was very theraputic!
Well, won't be able to blog for a while as we are just popping off in the caravan for a little break and won't have any mains power.
No crafting for a week ... got withdrawal symptoms already!

WOYWW 148
Okaaaay ... not my usual messy papercrafting worktop at all this week as I've had a good tidy-away of all that until after Easter as we will be away and I do like to leave the place kinda, sorta tidy!
So am busily preparing my next cross-stitch project to take with me and here are the goodies that arrived yesterday but, of course, it entails decisions, decisions and I am hopeless at them!
The design is supposed to be stitched on the darker piece of fabric but I am not at all sure I quite like the colour but do realise that this is the colour the designer chose so probably should go with the flow ... I ordered the lighter piece of fabric to give me the option. Will get them both out in the daylight and decide ... hopefully.
Short and sweet this week as I need to be doing 101 other things ... had planned a few peaceful and quiet hours cross-stitching my current project but it is a gift for eldest nephew and he just turned up, raided the cupboards, fired up his laptop and so will be here for a good while yet so no secret sewing.
Best thing today is to pop to see all the so much more interesting workdesks than mine and you can find these at Julia's Stamping Ground HERE

Titanic Tags
What a rotten week! Couldn't even blog but did manage to get some crafting done and as I am a massive TITANIC fan I just couldn't let the Centenary pass without doing something so made two tags ... one for me and one to send to another Titanorak ... an internet friend that I met briefly at the Titanic Exhibition at the Science Museum in London in 2003.
They are just my "standard" tag size ... distressed with various shades of blue (couldn't be any other colour really ... it's supposed to represent the ocean!) And I added some swirls and flourishes, some of which I dusted with gold perfect pearls to represent the waves. Absolute artistic licence, of course, as there were no waves that night.
The clock shows the time the Titanic sank (I am having to explain that to just about everyone who sees them!) and the bow of the ship was a challenge but all the effort was proven worthwhile today when daddy saw them and asked where I bought them from! I scored down the back of them and bent them a little bit and then covered them in glossy accents and just hoped it wouldn't all slide off as they dried. I Walked Away so not as to fiddle with them and then when they were nearly dry teased them into the pointy shape I wanted. Only problem here was I couldn't then attach the bottom edge of the ship to the tag and didn't want to rely on the great blob of silicone glue behind to hold them into place. Super-sticky "red" double sided tape to the rescue and I "encouraged" the bottom edge of the ship flat and then quickly stuck the message label on with more silicone. Seems to be holding so far so think I have got away with it.
Wasn't sure about the red flag and label and experimented with grey and white but eventually came back to the red ... it seemed all too wishy-washy otherwise.
They didn't turn out quite as I imagined in my head at 2am when I was thinking about making them but they will do as a little memento of the Centenary and I just hope my friend likes hers which will be in the post in the morning!
