WELCOME to my little arty world! Trying to make art is a huge part of my life ... love nothing more than messing around with inks and sprays and generally making a mess!

WOYWW 500 = WOW!!!

A huge WOW indeed for the 500 edition of WOYWW'ing and the hugest of
CONGRATULATIONS
to our esteemed and very much loved, adored, cherished and cared for leader Julia who sits at head desk at The Stamping Ground

I was determined to join in today ... well, yesterday for today is now tomorrow and I am a day late ... but my problem was, is, I have no desk to show.

Well, I could show you the dining room table which is where I am right now.
Or my warmer months desk out in the conservatory but that is buried under most of the contents of the kitchen as it continues its refit.

But ... and this is a big but ... any desk I could show you will be void of anything even remotely crafty or arty for I am busy battling with myself about whether I carry on or totally give up ... am at the totally giving up stage and have been for several weeks now but am not acting in haste and either binning or giving all my stuff away but, hand on heart honest, I think my attempts at anything even remotely art based are behind me.

Reason is not lack of mojo but rather facing the fact that I will never be able to produce anything I am even slightly happy with and no matter what wonderfully lovely comments my work gets I always think people are just being kind and bolstering me along - unfair thoughts from me I am sure but changing your psyche is bloomin' difficult and I have yet to manage it even a little bit.

I have learned to never say never but my mind feels pretty much made up - acceptance of my limitations and all that jazz.

So, I am about to blog the latest (and maybe the last) stuff I have done and hope to maybe make the crop in June (but doing WHAT I have no idea ... I hear talk of tea and cake so shall make tea and serve cake!) and end this sorry little post by thanking Julia for brining some AMAZING friends into my life ... truly friends for life ... and for the inspiration she had 500 weeks ago in starting what has turned out to be the phenomenal WOYWW!!!!!

  1. Debbie, so sorry to hear that you are thinking along these lines. Just looking at the header at the top of your blog belies your thoughts. I do hope that you feel you can carry on with your art, if only for yourself. It is worth carrying on, after all, if you don't like it you can always go over with another layer of gesso lol. Happy New Year and hope to hear from you soon. Sarah #12

  2. Hi Debbie, please just remember that there was never an artist of any note- Van Gogh, Picasso, to name just two- who didn't believe their work was rubbish, no matter what people said. You don't see the beauty the rest of us do, and that makes me sad. You really don't know how deeply your beautifully creative pieces affect the recipients- your pieces are on display in my craft room and Dining Room, and looking at them every day makes me smile. Doug loves your stuff, and trust me, Doug does not do bull***t! If he didn't like it, or saw faults,he'd say so. I'm going to be keeping my fingers crossed that you carry on, we need to see artwork like yours to inspire us all. Lots of love & hugs, and Happy New Year, Shaz XXX

  3. Well, I'd like to thank you for all the amazing items you've donated to my various fundraisers...they have all gone and people have been delighted. Simple as. And I'm so pleased that our paths crossed via WOYWW and sincerely hope that you do make it to the Crop where you'll be surrounded by lots of deskers not making anything, too busy chatting and eating cake!
    Happy WOYWW 500
    Hugs LLJ 7 xx

  4. Hi Debbie. I wish you a very happy and blessed new year - one in which you see again how lovely your work is - and how unique and beautiful a person you are. I do trust you will continue with your art - we are created, in the image of a creator God, and therefore to be creative is so much a part of who He has made us to be. I do hope you will make it to the crop - none of us will be doing anything remotely arty - just nattering, drinking tea, and eating cake!!! Come do that with the rest of us:-)
Take care dear girl. God bless.

  5. Hi Debbie. Please, please don't give up - your work is stunning and you must keep going! I hope to get to the crop too (although I haven't done anything about booking somewhere to stay yet!) so it would be good to see you again. Helen #2

  6. Hi dear Debbie, well I most heartily concur with all of the above sentiments. Look at your header as one said, that is a thing of true beauty ... is it not? And your fair hands made it. I’m quite sure I couldn’t.
We are all made differently but we are all unique. Your art is uniquely you. Don’t withhold it, there’s a verse in scripture that says “comparing yourself with yourself , or comparing yourselves among yourselves, you are not wise.” Don’t compare yourself with what you think other think you should be or what you think you should be.
Don’t give up on Your creativity. It’s still there, it may just need a wee rest. I’ve been through creative lulls too.
    Stuff happens.
    Happy belated WOYWW 500!
Sending prayer hugs your way for blessing upon your 2019.

  8. I’m late to the party, but am here now...and find you thinking like I did two years ago after that stupid brain op. My sister, who doesn’t craft, blog, cook or do anything that I would call stuff that I do for pleasure is the one that helped most. She reminded me that if I didn’t want to do, was no longer in the mood, that’s fine. Not to get rid of stuff because I might get the mood back. Because after all, before blogging and showing off your stuff, weren’t you doing it just for the sheer pleasure of doing it? And I had to agree. You may be happier bobbling or taking an long break, but don’t rush into getting rid..., perhaps just archive stuff for now! Nothing I say will change your opinion of yourself or your work, but I do urge you to remember the happy hours of dirty handed pottering!
Meanwhile the kitchen...ooh ahhh, nice but traumatic! are you keeping the gingham ceiling or is it all going? Is Phil doing it or have you got chaps in? I’m interested because I’m nosey and because I’ve got a new kitchen to plan for and could learn a thing or two, as usual, from you!

  9. Hi Debbie, just popped back to Julia's to check I'd not missed anyone and here you are! I think everyone feels like this at times. I usually walk away, do something different for a while and then come back at it, just don't rush into anything you might regret in the future. Happy New Year, Angela x16x
